More Sunday Fun!

On July 30, 2012 by Retro Chick

Yesterday, on a Sunday afternoon that started off sunny, then got a bit rainy, and then got sunny again, we held our first cheats vintage hair workshop at Olives on Elm Hill.

The idea of the class was to teach a few simple techniques that, with a bit of practice for some of them, will allow you to create a bit of a vintage feel for your hair in minutes. Our lovely Beauty School ladies got to spend 2 1/2 hours just playing with their hair, it’s not often you get a chance to do that! Luxury!

Refreshments were supped from elegant china while we adpated and overcame a variety of hair “problems” like lots of layers, super fine and flyaway hair, very long and thick hair and not having much length to play around with. Everyone created some kind of vintage style by the end of the 2 1/2 hours and with the use of accessories from Sugar & Hatter and a final finishing touch of Besame Lipstick everyone looked beautiful for their trips home!

Those that couldn’t quite face taking their vintage locks back home just yet took the opportunity to stick around for a cocktail and a spot of vintage shopping at our regular Sip & Shop night.

This was our busiest night yet and we had a special red white and blue vintage rail in honour of Team GB and the start of the Olympics. Guest sellers this time were Wake Up Little Susie and artist Simon Pritchard.

The Sip & Shop takes a break for August bank holiday, but we’re back for some Autumn wardrobe updates in September and some spooky fun in October, before some special Christmas shopping festivities in November and December.

We’re also running 2 more workshops before each evening so you can get yourself glamorous for the nights entertainment. So many people have asked about more Flicks n Lips classes that we’ve decided to repeat the mini Flicks n Lips taster class at the end of September. Tickets are £10 a head. Tickets for the Vintage Hair Class sold out so quickly that we’ve added another Cheats Guide to Vintage Hair class at the end of October. Tickets for this class are £20.

We’re hoping to schedule in some more chances to help you get some vintage glamour for the Christmas party season too, so you can sign up to our newsletter to to be the first to know!
